Extras

Here are some extras that go along with the Wisconsin Gothic novels! They are provided without warning and without schedule. To stay abreast of new releases, sign up for my newsletter.

Toward a Consolidated Philosophy of Ghosts: Get all the short stories in one file! This will be kept updated as I add more shorts to the Wisconsin Gothic world. It was last updated in June 2026. PDF is here, epub is here. This is a very temporary cover, but enjoy it anyway:

Cars driving along a rainy street, painted in watercolor. Toward a Consolidated Philosophy of Ghosts: Wisconsin Gothic Shorts. Shoutout to SweetMonkeyJesus on Mastodon whose photo I painted!

“Telamones” (2026; 1,400 words, Wisconsin Gothic #5.1): A Telamon is a male figure used as a column or support in a building. In this second epilogue to Renaissance, Eli (and Laz) deal with the aftermath. PDF is here, epub is here. You will want to have read Renaissance before you jump into this.

A Telamon is a male statue used as a column or support in a building. This is a gray-green watercolor painting of a telamon.

“Sparking Something” (2025; 3,200 words, I’m not putting it up on Goodreads but call it Wisconsin Gothic #1.2): “It’s not much, but if you want to come in…” A “what if” version of the scene on p. 26 of Dionysus in Wisconsin in which Sam invites Ulysses up after they’ve been to his play. A Ulysses character study. PDF is here, epub is here. Mild content warning for references to period-typical homophobia. Also, you will definitely want to have read Dionysus in Wisconsin before you read this. I don’t think it makes much sense on its own.

The cover of "Sparking Something" by E. H. Lupton. A watercolor painting of a mason jar with a rum and coke in it. There's an ice cube in the drink and a lemon lurking in the background.

“Dous” (2024; 8k words, officially Wisconsin Gothic #1.1 for cataloging purposes): “Sam has never wanted to get laid badly enough to read Being and Nothingness before, but here they are.” It’s Dionysus in Wisconsin, the café au version, although the title is an oblique reference to something Obe first calls Celeste in Old Time Religion (I think). PDF is here, epub is here. Mild content warning for mention of cancer and the death of a minor character. Also for existentialism, capitalism, and depression. As one does.

A coffee cup on top of three books. "Dous" by E. H. Lupton
